Tinkering A New Toy

We started having a good time just getting lost in our latest project. The hammered wings are made of a very thin metal. The copper wire holds together a brushed copper & glass rectangular artpiece. I really like how the rivets echo a corset-like appearance. You can't see too clearly but inside the artpiece, 2 of the corners are highlighted with gold leaf. Around the woman, the portrait is aged with Mica tiles.

It's still a WIP (work-in-progress). More than likely 2 more riveted holes will be atop the higher part of
the wings so that it can be attached to a beaded strand to make a rather nifty necklace.

All this work is giving Zizi an appetite!

Hello Everyone!

Oh, my!  When the seasonal cold kicks in, it sometimes hits with a whammy.  Between that & an old Powerbook G4 biting the dust, it makes for a couple stumbles before getting back into shape.  All we can advocate is to back up your computer weekly.  We can't emphasize this enough.  That made the new computer process less of a headache and took out the worries of lost pictures, emails & documents.

Having a massive cold/virus is what really knocked us for a loop!  Now things look a lot brighter.  Doing Yoga will help with one's outlook too ;)

We made a couple pairs of earrings, that are very dainty.  You know that when the weather gets warmer, we have tendency to either cut off our hair or at least pull it back.  So why not deck your earlobes out with a little pizazz?

This has Bali beads mixed with lampwork beads & sterling silver chain.
More Bali beads, sterling silver chain & a wonderful copper bead.

Would You Believe???

In the midst of making jewelry, our beloved "vintage" Mac took its last breath. Would you believe it stayed around to make one last backup. Sometimes the computer gods are good to us! So now we are zooming around with tons of speed & memory. Forgive us, but we needed a day to just play ;) The new pix are up on Etsy, but grab a sneak preview of a few:

This one on the left features hammered copper (got a lot of frustration out that night!)

The heart on the right features hammered wire once again & the heart that hangs off the wire heart is made of polymer clay--yes, we made that too.  The necklace is held together by a fiber strand.  Very dainty!

This is a fun necklace with a lot of drama.  Don't you love how the end is punctuated with a flurry of fiber.  It's a glowing piece in gold, bronze, ebony and warm brown shades, and of course, a little sparkle.

Hope tomorrow proves another fruitful day!

Ruff Drafts

These are some pieces we created over the week.

We made both hearts!

We love these saucer beads and couldn't decide on a wire-wrapped finish or a dangly finish---so we did both!

Giacomo was not feeling his inner model today.

This was just fun and reminded us of something we'd buy in New Orleans. I was actually listening to WWOZ while making this.

We nixed the earrings but kept the necklace. The corresponding earring are the ones Giacomo is posing with.

Let's get going.....

Now that the studio is in proper form (in other words: ready to be put in shambles again!!!), we needed supplies. You can never have enough, right! Sunday was spent in Alexandria. Got some beautiful pieces there. We found our color palette sending us the copper & bronze vibe.

Oh, we had to make a stop @ Trader Joe's where we could buy WINE!!! (mental note: when wine is 3.99 there is a reason for that. lesson learned) No arborio rice though & it is risotto that keeps us going on those creative tangents.

Today we were off to Rockville where we got nothing on our list because we were enamored by SPARKLE. The girly-girl came out in us, so look for some shiny happy jewels soon. Real soon.

Thanks for listening! Tomorrow we will blare Lady Gaga & get going! We all need visualsl

Giacomo is tired of waiting for some new jewelry pix.
